Beachbody On Demand Review
Beachbody On Demand is a new online streaming service that lets you stream the entire Beachbody library of fitness videos and training programs in exchange for a monthly subscription fee. Here’s our Beachbody On Demand review.
What is Beachbody On Demand?
Beachbody On Demand is a subscription-based service that gives you access to a library of all Beachbody videos.
You subscribe to the service, enjoy a 30 day free trial, and are able to access Beachbody programs anytime, anywhere using any tablet, computer, or phone with an internet connection.
Hundreds of workouts are available – including well-known Beachbody favorites like Hip Hop Abs, P90X, Insanity, and ChaLEAN Extreme.
Earlier this year, Beachbody launched the beta for its program. As part of that beta offer, new subscribers get their first 30 days of the program free. After that, you’ll need to pay the full subscription price of $2.99 per week.
Beachbody On Demand is available for subscribers in the United States, Canada, and the UK.
What’s Included with Beachbody On Demand?
Beachbody, for those who don’t know, is one of the world’s leading exercise video makers. The company has made a wide range of well-known exercise programs over the years, including P90X and Insanity. When you subscribe to Beachbody On Demand, you get access to all of these programs any time on-demand.
The full Beachbody library consists of hundreds of different workout programs. The most popular members of that library include all of the following:
- P90X, P90X2, and P90X3
- Insanity
- TurboFire
- ChaLEAN Extreme
- Brazil Butt Lift
- 10 Minute Trainer
- Hip Hop Abs
You also get insider sneak peeks at Beachbody’s newest training programs, including PiYo, 21 Day Fix, Body Beast, and Focus T25 (although you don’t actually get full access to these programs).
Basically, it’s like Netflix for workout videos: you’re not going to get the latest new releases, but you get unlimited, on-demand access to some of Beachbody’s best-known workout videos produced over the years.
Programs are led by some of Beachbody’s famous trainers, including Tony Horton (of P90X fame) and Chalene Johnson, Sagi Kalev, Autumn Calabrese, Shaun T, Debbie Siebers, and Leandro Carvalho.
After subscribing for Beachbody, you can stream you workouts from any internet-connected laptop, tablet, or mobile device. It’s available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. No DVDs are required: all you need is an internet connection.
The main “catch” behind Beachbody On Demand is that you might find yourself chewing through your data plan quickly if you’re using the app while at the gym or in any other place without a Wi-Fi connection. There’s no option to download the programs offline.
Beachbody On Demand also throws subscribers a few more treats and bonuses, including all of the following:
- Step by step program guides
- Nutrition and meal plans
- Workout calendars
- And more
All of this bonus content is delivered online – either through the app or through your laptop/desktop/tablet browser. They’re designed to enhance your exercise results and help you keep track of your progress.
Beachbody On Demand Pricing
Beachbody On Demand heavily advertises its free 30 day trial. In fact, it takes a lot of research before you eventually find out the full cost of the program. Beachbody doesn’t explain its pricing until you’ve actually given them some personal information – like an email address.
Wherever you’re based, Beachbody On Demand is priced at $2.99 per week (which works out to $11.96/month or $155.48/year). All prices are in USD – even if you’re a subscriber in the UK or Canada.
Beachbody On Demand Digital Unlock Pricing
Certain workout programs also come with a “Digital Unlock” option, where you can pay 50% of the DVD cost to have unlimited access to these programs through Beachbody On Demand. Otherwise, you don’t have any access to these programs. Think of it like extra premium content for Beachbody On Demand subscribers.
This is how you can gain access to new Beachbody programs that aren’t yet available through Beachbody On Demand (including 21 Day Fix, 21 Day Fix Extreme, P90, PiYo, and Insanity Max: 30). This can add hundreds of dollars onto the cost of Beachbody On Demand, as each program is priced between $20 and $40.
So if you’re interested in any of those programs, then you may be better off buying them straight-up instead of subscribing to Beachbody On Demand. It’s unclear if these newer programs will ever be available through Beachbody On Demand.
Should You Sign Up for Beachbody On Demand?
Beachbody On Demand is an all-access pass to Beachbody’s training programs. You can sign up for a 30 day trial to test out the program before you commit to paying $2.99 a week. There are hundreds of different workout programs available in the Beachbody digital library. You can access those workouts at any time of day, an unlimited number of times, from any device with an internet connection.
The only major restriction with Beachbody On Demand is that not all Beachbody programs are included in this price. Certain programs come with a “Digital Unlock” requirement, where you pay $20 to $40 to add them to your Beachbody On Demand subscription. So it’s not like you’re getting unlimited access to the entire Beachbody library.
Whether you’re a fan of P90X and other Beachbody programs, or you’ve just always wanted to try them out, Beachbody On Demand is still cheaper than a gym membership and gives you instant access to hundreds of workouts you can do at home – many with only basic equipment or no equipment at all. If you decide you don’t like any of the workouts, then you can cancel your membership before the 30 day trial without paying a dime.
